An evil, grotesque gnome, small of stature and consciencousness, mid-1970’s, proposed a cynical economic theory.  Essentially, any living, breathing, human’s value, was calibrated solely by their shareholder value!

A tragically seductive dialectic warmly embraced by the insatiably greedy corporate class. Why bother perceiving those who labor in your name retaining levels of value, when in our now dystopian culture, every level of employee’s value is being wrung dry??  And at minimal costs??

No Phd. required to also extrapolate the dire consequences befalling those amongst us, unfortunate enough to find other formidable life challenges suddenly on their doorsteps. Health and health insurance matters, lead the list. Terrifying.

Our fully bought and paid for political (sic) “leaders” (thank you Citizens United) quickly fall in line. Forget remedies!!  Their new equation, No shareholder value = no campaign contribution and likely no vote.  Hence, goodbye truly affordable housing, hello permits for an expansion of Lincoln Center.

Despicable outcomes!

The goal within my installation??  Substituting the view through a window in the painted sheets of plywood surrounding yet another chop-stick, luxury tower, construction site.
